day 58 'a deeper shade of red'

i got my hair professionally colored yesterday. it's kind of dark, but in the sun it's really shiny and bright. i want to keep it this way for a bit and add some copper-honey highlights in about a month.

what do you think of phase 1?

day 56 'happy birthday o'

today was orion's 4th birthday. i got him balloons at this local party shop in my old lower east side hood. it was so fun walking down the street with two dozen balloons. it had just stopped raining. the bright colors of the balloons shocked the gray skies.

even more exciting was watching his expression when i pulled them out of the trunk. truly priceless. he lit up the sky! it was a birthday surprise!

my friend jen took some great shots of us on the street......

day 55 'what? is there something in my nose?'

early morning entertainment! this is how you get when you hang out with kids! or am i just a big kid? either way...it's good for the soul!

day 53 'soothing soak'

i rarely take baths, but since i have been hunched over like an old lady for the past two days due to a strained muscle in my lower back, i knew this would help and it did.

i am grateful that feeling a little crippled has made me more appreciate my body for all that it does for me. and how much i take waking with ease for granted.

and even though i am not particularlly fond of my full thighs and elephant ankles, i am grateful for two legs that get me from here to there....

just as soon as my muscle heals.

day 32 'super awesome scrumdelicious day!'

Today was a good day.
Something interesting happened to me in the past 24 hours.
And I want to blame it on three factors.
The full moon, my concentration on photography for the past 31 days, and the fact that my Palm Pilot crashed and I lost EVERYTHING! Yeah, everything! Talk about spring cleaning! I had stuff in there that I should have let go of a long time ago.

But after my day today, it wasn't so hard to forget about!

Outside all day with the kids! Lucky me!

It was a beautiful day! Spring has arrived! Lots of pretty spring flowers everywhere!

I love this bike shot of headless Savannah. The chalk drawings on the ground make it interesting.

This is where the real magic starts. The park we never go to, except for today.
This is where I ran into a mom that I work out with and book an appointment with her to do a photoshoot of her and her two kids. Awesome.
I meet the dad of this little boy pictured here on the right (Orion is on the left) who just so happens to be a nyc fashion photographer. We have a nice chat and exchange numbers. It's always good to connect with other photographers.
And what a great example of the Law of Attraction at work. Like energy vibrates to like energy! I meet photographers on the street ALL the time! I must be oozing photography. HA!

On the way home for lunch, I snap this picture of a building under construction in Battery Park City. The growth here is staggering!

It never seizes to amaze me how fast these buildings go up. And how much it sucks that the park is in it's shadow now.....

While I was busy with lunch, I get a phone call from a company that is interested in talking more with me about doing a food photoshoot for one of their clients! An all day paid gig! Who me? Yes, please.

After lunch, I am back outside with the kids at Penny Park while waiting for gardening class.

While I am returning this woman's phone call the photographer dad who I had met that morning strolls by with his son. We both wave as he passes by. Funny running into you again....

While the kids play, I notice this bee just sitting there in the sun next to the park bench I was sitting on.....

This bee sat sunning (or played half dead) on the cement at a park for a good hour. I got right in his face to take his picture. I thought, surely it must be dead. I gently poked it with a stick and sure enough it starts to move. After capturing THIS SHOT, I gave him his space.

After work, I decide that it would be a great idea to walk home over the Brooklyn Bridge. I meet up with my super favorite gal pal, Niki, who joins me on the walk.

While walking home over the Brooklyn Bridge I got these awesome night shots!

Just a single cloud hangin' out!

I love the flag in this shot.

How can you not love this bridge?!

After having a super fine time with Niki, I get home to be greeted by new comments on my flickr! Who doesn't love that?!
One of my photographs had WON a category in the Photogamer Challenge! Whoopee!

I celebrate my super awesome scrumdelicious day by having a late night drink at my local wine bar, Bocco Lupo, with my favorite photo friend, Mike Oliver. Mike was by my side all day cheering on my photography victories! He is a photo genius! Make sure you check out his work!

What a way to start my mini-vacation. I have the next 5 days off! Oh, yeah.

Photogamer #7 WINNER for 100 steps!

I WON! I WON! I WON!

This is the first time I have participated in the Photogamer Challenge and I WON for the category, 100 steps! Yeah, baby! I'm a LUCKY girl!

Here is the background on this photo: I started at the door of Met Food. I walked around till my 100th step and snapped this shot looking down the aisle with wandering woman at the end of it. She caught me taking her picture and says to me real grouchy like, "this isn't a photobooth." I chuckled because that was the photogamer bonus, an old school photobooth! Well, I didn't get the bonus, but some old woman at Met Food sure felt like I was forcing her into one! HA!

And I also want to give a big shout out to Rob Boudon for helping me create this merged photo in Photoshop! What can I say, I'm still learning!

PS
This photo has a geotag! Meaning, you can see where I took this picture on a map! Another awesome feature from flickr! Just look to the right side of the photo and you will see "Taken in New York, New York (map)" Click on map and it brings up the exact location on a map! Pretty cool, eh?!
